Dark Lift Use

To work around this problem, Bruker developed Dark Lift, an optional, keyed NanoScope feature. Dark Lift turns off the laser during the lift portion of the scan. Dark Lift is Enabled in the Interleave panel of the Scan Parameters window, shown in Figure 1. The laser takes some time (> 100 ms) to stabilize after being turned on. This time is specified by the Dark Lift Delay parameter, shown in Figure 1.

The order of Dark Lift operations is:

1. Trace scan line
2. Retrace scan line
3. Turn Feedback Off.
4. Turn laser off
5. Lift
6. Lift trace scan line
7. Lift retrace scan line
8. Turn laser on
9. Dark lift delay
10. Turn Feedback On
11. Return to Step 1.
