System Power-up

CAUTION: The following section is required only during installation or after servicing and should NOT be used by untrained personnel.

Prepare the System for Power-up

  1. Plug the PC, monitor(s), NanoScope V Controller and Stage Controller power cables into the outlets on the power distribution box:

  1. Verify that the power cord is plugged into a grounded power receptacle with the correct voltage.
  2. Verify that all cables are connected properly, especially the NanoScope V SPM controller to the Dimension microscope electronics box.
CAUTION: Cables should not be removed or installed while power is applied to the system. These restrictions do not apply to the cable that connects the microscope scanner to the microscope front panel.

Power-up Sequence

  1. Turn on the system power switch located near the PC.
  2. Turn on the monitor(s) using the push-button switch located on the front of the monitor(s).
  3. Turn on the computer using the push-button switch located on the front of the computer.
  4. Turn on the NanoScope V controller using the power switch located on the rear of the NanoScope V controller.
  5. Turn on the Dimension controller, using the power switch on the rear of the Dimension controller.
NOTE: Because the NanoScope V Controller and the Dimension Stage Controller power switches are on the back of their cabinets, leave their power switches on when you power-off or power on your Dimension Icon system. Normal power-on consists of simply turning on the system power switch.

The Dimension Icon-PI system uses the same power distribution switch as the Dimension Icon (workstation) system; hence the same power-up sequence.
