You are here: NanoScope Software User Guide > Real-time Views > Views for Scanning > Tip Save

Tip Save

Tip Save functions allow you to stop scanning while maintaining feedback. These functions preserve both the tip and scanner.

Click the Pause icon to stop scanning while keeping the probe tip in contact with the sample.
Restart the scan by clicking the Scan Single icon. This will restart the scan from the existing probe tip position and finish the frame plus one complete frame for each increment above 1 of the Scan Single Frame Number in the Scan Parameters List, shown in Figure 1.

You may also restart the scan by clicking the Scan Continuous icon. This will restart continuous scanning from the existing probe tip position.

Three new (with NanoScope Software version 8.15) Scan parameters, shown in Figure 1, protect the scanner from damage while Paused.

  1. Idle Depolarize Threshold
  • If the Z scanner gets within 100% - Idle Depolarize Threshold, withdraw.
  1. Idle Depolarize Warning Time
  • If the scanner is far away from (0, 0, 0) for Idle Depolarize Warning Time, a warning, shown in Figure 2, is displayed.
  1. Idle Depolarize Withdraw Time
  • If the scanner is far away from (0, 0, 0) for Idle Depolarize Withdraw Time, display the warning shown in Figure 3 and withdraw.
