If, for some reson, the computers needs to be shutdown, or there has been a power failure, the startup procedure is described here.

• Log on both computers with Supervisor account.
  There is a special hardware box that switches the mouse and keyboard control between the two computers. Before logging in this box is not working because there is some software that has to run on both computers.
  
  You can manually switch control between the computers by pressing the button on the front panel of the box. 1 means left computer screen and 2 means right computer screen.

• Double-click on the desktop icon for the FEI SEM, this should start the Server-part of the software, i.e. part of software the communicates with the micro-controllers inside the system.

• This is what the Server window looks like:

  The server is stopped, and all that is needed is to press the Start button. There is also an Advanced-button that shows more of what is going on during the startup. If you want to shut down computers you normally press the Stop button to shutdown the server, before shutting down the computers.

• Here is the server window in advanced mode:

  	The Autorun UI is ticked, then the GUI is started after the server has initialised all sub-units.
  	The server is still stopped, the lower part shows the communication status of the different sub-units in the system. They are all marked with black dots indicating they are not started.

• Here is the server is half way through start-up.

  	The sub-units are marked with different colors according to how far in initialisation they have come.

• Here the server is fully initialised, all sub-units are marked as green, and the login-prompt is displayed next to the server-window.
  

• By double-clicking in the blue top bar of the server-window it can be minimised like this:
  
  This is necessary since the server window is always at the front.
