Evacuated oven, dirt causing problems

2011-11-24 Anders Liljeborg

The evacuated oven was found to be very dirty. Probable cause is resist spill. The spill was difficult to see beacuse it was underneath the inset in the oven. Below are pictures of the oven with the inset removed.

This spill is very serious, since it will evaporate when the oven is heated and will most certainly form a film on anything that is put in the oven. This will certainly cause trouble for every user, since it is likely that the samples are more contaminated after being in the oven than before.

Please report any spill (or other mishaps) immediately to a lab responsible person. Please note that this is not to critizise the person who caused the mishap. It is only so we can make the lab work more smoothly by correcting these problems as soon as possible.

There was also contamination in the evacuation outlet at the upper center of the inside back wall.

The inset taken out of the oven and turned upside down for cleaning.
