The memory circuit in the EMS 4000 spinner is a non-volatile RAM
using a
battery, which lifetime is a couple of years. The circuit is a
standard component and can be purchased from
e.g. RS-Components. The circuit part number
is GR881 8K X 8.
Start by opening the front of the controller unit.
At the far right there is a circuit board
that carries the memory circuit.
- Disconnect the two flat cables at the front of the board.
- Pull out the board partly. Do not pull it out all the
way! The board has a
back connector that is not fastened to the chassis, the
cabling is following it.
- See to it that your are grounded, have no static charge
- Carefully pry the old memory circuit loose with a
screwdriver or
something similar.

Press the new circuit into the holder, carefully check that
all pins go into the correct sockets.

Press hard to ensure that the new circuit is correctly
seated.

Re-attach the front panel.
