What to do if a lot of ice is around the outlet valve.

In order for cooling to work, liquid nitrogen valves must be open.
In the room next to the CryoRIE there is a 150 l tank which stores the nitrogen.

First you should check that there is nitrogen in the tank. The tank is full when the measuring-rod somewhere between middle line and the upper N marking. In the figure, the tank has some nitrogen left, but at the present level, it is not guaranteed that the machine can reach low temperatures.

The next thing is to check the pressure gauge. This is placed on the backside of the tank and it should be at 4 bar of pressure.

Finally, open the blue and green valves (a few turns), allowing nitrogen to flow to the CryoRIE.

Remember to close the valves when you are done.
