First Generation Small Sample Adapter

The Teflon first generation small sample adapter which has been superseded by the Second Generation Small Sample Adapter is shown in Figure 1. The first generation small sample adapter sits under the standard insulating insert and accommodates either:

  1. Round samples up to 27 mm diameter, 1.2 to 1.4 mm thickness.
  2. Rectangular samples up to 20 mm square, 1.2 to 1.4 mm thickness.

Samples are intended to be glued to the roughened (by Sodium Ammonia etching) Teflon adapter. Electrical contact is made to the sample using a small spring through the hole in the adapter, shown in Figure 3.
